This Book on “Leadership In Islam” is meant to provide a brief guide to Muslims on what Leadership encompasses in Islam. Based on the provisions on Leadership in the Qur’an and the Sunnah, every person occupies a position of Leadership from the Family level to the levels of Communities and Nations. This Book, however lays emphasis on National Leadership from the Wards to the Federal levels, Politically, Traditionally, Religiously, in the Private Sector, etc.
The Book begins with what Islam is, who is a Muslim and what Leadership in Islam entails. It introduces the concept of Leadership in Islam where every person was compared to a Shepherd from family levels to national levels. This Shepherd shall account to people in this World and to Allah in the Hereafter. The Islamic Government System and the Modes of Electing or Selecting a Leader are also provided in this Book. Likewise the 12 Basic Qualities of a Good Leader and the Obligations of Leaders and Followers. Also in this Book are the 15 Fundamental Rights of Citizens in Islam, which are much more laudable than those provided by the United Nations Civil Rights. In addition, the Lessons to be Learnt from the Life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) are provided as guides to people. This Book clarifies how a Muslim Leader shall handle Leadership in an Islamic State or in a Non-Islamic State.
This Book carries an Appendix of the famous “Taj Ad-Deen” Treatise by the Algerian Sheikh Al-Maghili on “What is Compulsory Upon Kings”. It was written in Kano in 1495 AD for Sarkin Kano Muhammadu Rumfa and the Traditional Rulers in his domain. The contents of this excellent Treatise on Leadership are very important for the Rulers of today’s Nigeria, because it seems as if the Treatise was written for their guidance to better Leadership!
