Below is a list of some of the over 60 Prizes and Awards won by or presented to Prof. Sani Abubakar Lugga, the Waziri of Katsina

  1. Won Academic Prizes at Government College Katsina, and annual prizes for being the best Marketing Student (1974, 75, 76, 77) and for the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma courses (1975 & 77) at Kaduna Polytechnic.

  2. Presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Katsina State Government for serving successfully as the State Chairman of the Logistics Committee for the 1994 National Constitutional Conference Election (1994).

  3. Presented with a Special Duty Certificate of Appreciation under the seal of His Excellency the Military Administrator of Katsina State for meritorious services rendered as the Chairman of the Publicity Committee of the State EducationTrust Appeal Fund (1998).

  4. Presented with a Certificate of Honour by the Katsina Solidarity Association under the seal of His Highness the Emir of Katsina. (1996).

  5. Received a Merit Award from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (1997).

  6. Nominated for the Katsina State Merit Award by the Katsina Local GovernmentCouncil for meritorious contributions towards the social, economic and political development of the State and the promotion of peace and stability (1997).

  7. Honoured with the National Award of The Grand Patron of the Nigerian Youths by the Nigerian Youth Organization (1994).

  8. Awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Katsina State Students’ Association (1995).

  9. Received the Prestigious Award of the Premier Club of the Kaduna Polytechnic (1992).

  10. Awarded Life Membership of the Nigerian Association of Technological Students for exemplary services rendered as initially its National Public Relations Officer and later as its National Secretary (1975).

  11. Awarded a Certificate of Honour by the National Association of Kaduna State Students for leading it successfully for three years as National President(1976).

  12. Elected Man of the Year by the Katsina State Students Association (1994).

  13. Awarded a Certificate of Honour by the Nigerian Universities EducationStudents Association (1995).

  14. Awarded a Certificate of Honour by the African Daw’rah Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for meritorious services to Islam (1999).

  15. Awarded the People, State & Resource Magazine 2002 Development In Nigeria Merit Award (DINMA) (2002).

  16. Received the Community Development Mobiliser of the Year 2004 Award from the Katsina State Government for efforts towards self-help projects (2004).

  17. Awarded a Certificate of Honour by the Nigerian Society of Engineers, in recognition of meritorious contributions to the overall progress of the Engineering Practice in particular and the Nation in general (2005).

  18. Received an Award at the 24th National Conference/Workshop of Nurses and Midwives for meritorious services that advance the Nursing and Midwifery professions (2005).

  19. Awarded a Plaque of Honour for contributions to the development of Arabic and Islamic Education and the Shari’ah by the Old Students’ Association of Sir Usman Nagogo College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Katsina (2006).

  20. Received a Certificate of Honour from the King Saud University Alumni, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for immense contributions to educational development (2006).

  21. Awarded a Plaque of Honour for contributions towards the development of education by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (2006).

  22. Received a Letter of Appreciation under the seal of His Excellency, the Governor of Katsina State, for Chairing one of the Sessions of the State Economic Summit (2006).

  23. Received an Academic Award for Academic Excellence from the National Association of Katsina State Students, Federal College of Education, Kano (2008).

  24. Awarded the Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators Distinguished Merit Award for Service to Humanity (2008).

  26. Received an Award of Honour from the National Association of Katsina State Students, Abdullahi Bayero Univerity, Kano, for being, “The Pioneer Behind The Creation Of Katsina University (the first Islamic University in Nigeria)” (2008).

  27. Received a Letter of Appreciation under the seal of the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, for diligent participation and contribution in the Main Coronation Committee of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina (2008).

  28. Awarded the News In Africa International Magazine 2009 Outstanding Leaders Gold Award for Community, Infrastructural, Human and Physical Development in Nigeria and the Africa Sub Region (2009).

  29. Received an Award of Excellence for Selfless Service to Humanity from the Forum of Federal Health Institutions’ Nurses & Midwives of Nigeria (2009).
